Nine years after Dutch-born Louis Leeman met the lithe contributing fashion editor Erica Pelosini in her hometown of Florence, Italy, the two tied the knot in 2014 on the mystical island of Capri.
Italy’s fashion sweetheart + contributing editor to Vogue, Erica Pelosini, and Dutch shoe designer, Louis Leeman, have been vacationing in Capri every summer for as long as they can remember. So it was pretty much a given that as soon as Louis proposed, one decision was already made: they knew they wanted to exchange their vows in this dreamy Italian setting that has become such a special place to them. Erica wanted the wedding to feel very Capri, but at the same time wanted plenty of whimsical + bohemian touches to reflect her and her lifestyle, blended into the natural environment of their surroundings.
We’ve been drooling over Erica’s crush-worthy styles for years now, so naturally, we were over the moon when Coveteur allowed us inside the wedding of Louis Leeman & Erica Pelosini.
Although the affair was back in 2014, LLA feels strongly that we should all revisit this notable destination wedding for some inspiration & for those of you that want to bring the destination to you.
Often described as the most appealing island in the Mediterranean, Capri boasts a magnificent blend of natural beauty and charm. The island’s rich history is ripe with captivating tales of scandal and colourful characters. Known as the “Emerald Island,” with its incredible aqua-green waters that sparkle like a jewel in the bright sun. It's a vibrant green oasis surrounded by more than 800 species of plants that flourish on the island.
This is where the wedding of Louis Leeman & Erica Pelosini took place, and it could not have been more perfect.
"Erica was dripping in unconventional Pucci."
When asked in an interview with The Strategy (an online blog we highly recommend checking out), what inspires Erica's style the most? She replied:
"My traveling. I see architecture, markets, art, lifestyle, and costumes. Every time I travel to a place, I find something I want to add to my collection. I’m also inspired by where I lived. In Italy, it’s very loud – very Versace and Cavalli. So when I lived in Italy, I was the full on Dolce & Gabbana, more Italian style. Moving to Paris, made me more ‘je ne sais quoi’, a little less perfect and less loud; more black and mono-colour. Moving to LA made me more laidback and into street wear. I carry influences from all of these places that I lived."
Dinner Is Served
As guests convened on the terrace of the JK Place Hotel, Pelosini (in a Peter Dundas Pucci dress and Casadei shoes) then led them down the cobblestoned streets of Capri to the iconic Da Paolina restaurant for dinner under a cocoon of lemon trees.

Girls Brunch
Pelosini greeted her Girls looking rightfully radiant in custom Katrantzou alongside her handful of bridesmaids for a poolside blissful bridesmaid brunch with the designer herself (a close friend, of course). After getting the recommended daily intake of girl talk, it was time to get ready. The Bride and her girls returned to their JK Capri Hotel Suite to get gussied up.
Getting Ready
Pelosini’s bridal dress was designed by Peter Dundas Pucci.
“It was an amazing experience going to the Palazzo Pucci and having Peter design the dress for me. I always knew that I wanted something traditional but reinterpreted for an island wedding in a forest with a carpet strewn with daisies,”.
“We started with sleeves and lace, but while trying the dress at the Palazzo, Peter ended up cutting them off, saying it was not me and that I needed something more rock-and-roll, more bohemian—just what I was thinking!”
Louis Leeman concurs, and commented further:
“When Erica entered, accompanied by the music ‘Walk of Love’ from the Rolling Stones and played by our French pianist, I thought, ‘This is the perfect Erica wedding dress.’”
Back in the couple's massive suite, the bridal party popped champagne with Pelosini as they sat in hair and make-up and bonded with Mr. Pelosini (that would be Erica's dad, duh).
Fake lashes on and just-ironed 'woke-up-like-this' waves intact, a team of seamstresses made their way through the room, sewing each and every bridesmaid into their sea blue Pucci before arriving at Pelosini with her one-of-a-kind, custom Peter Dundas creation.
"A delectable dream of boho chic meets timeless elegance, her wedding dress consisted of a lattice criss-cross neckline with pompoms and a dramatic asymmetrical train, accessorised with white lace-up Aquazzura sandals and a bright bouquet of daisies."
Here Comes The Bride
On the big day, champagne was flowing as the girls gathered together in their sea blue Pucci bridesmaid dresses.
In a white satin dressing gown with the words “BRIDE” on the back, Pelosini stepped into her custom-made Peter Dundas creation and was a vision.

Later, Pelosini sat atop a unconventional sunny yellow construction truck on the way to the grand ceremony at Certosa di San Giacomo.
Each guest was given a balloon with a tiny message to release the balloon after the couple say I do. The balloons were tied to old school Italian lollipops (big size lollipops). It was a religious ceremony – they had no altar however, we decided to use the two natural orange trees as their “altar” instead, which they stood in front of. "We felt it was more organic and natural to the environment of Capri – which we wanted to always emphasize throughout."
Walking down the aisle with a piano rendition of her favourite Rolling Stones song playing, the couple said their vows and kissed as a fleet of white balloons (a modern spin on the traditional doves) floated up to the sky.
